Oh my gosh... my first blog post! I truthfully never thought I'd see this day, but I'm enjoying sharing my handmade cards so much on Instagram that this seemed like a good next step. I thought I'd take this post to introduce myself. As many of you know, my name is Leigh, and I am currently addicted to making cards (if this were Cardmakers Anonymous, I am now picturing the crowd echoing, "Hello, Leigh." Maybe some of us should start a group like that? 😂) I grew up watching my mom sew, smock, knit, crochet, paper craft... you name it. And she was good at all of it! I spent a lot of time in a sewing shop where my mom worked and was exposed to stitching very early. Fast forward many years later, and I picked up scrapbooking when my son was born. I loved it, but I just couldn't keep up with it. I was way too meticulous about layouts; it would take me the next 100 years to scrapbook his life and another 100 to scrapbook my daughter's. So out that went.
Fast forward until about a year ago when I was watching YouTube and stumbled across a Jennifer McGuire video. About 3 hours of my life and many of her videos later, I took the plunge. I dabbled here and there, but it wasn't until I watched a video of her stitching on cards that a light bulb went off in my head. I had always enjoyed stitching and embroidery, but it had not occurred to me to combine them with papercrafting. Wham. I was hooked, and here we are! Unlike scrapbooking, I can be as meticulous as I want with cardmaking. The format is small and I don't mind if it takes me hours to finish a card because you can never really "fall behind." It's the perfect creative outlet for me.
When I'm not making something, I'm usually found carting my kids around to one of their gazillion sports or activities. As a family, we love traveling and try to take a couple of great trips per year. We have dog and two cats, who will all undoubtedly show up here on at some point or another (I feel like the pied piper... I usually have a little furry parade following me around the house and they love hanging out in the craft room with me). You can also find me gardening, exercising and playing tennis (but if I could stay in shape and drop the exercise part, I'd probably opt for that 😉).
Please bear with me as I tinker with the layout and look of this blog... I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing. 😁 I'm looking forward to sharing my process and my creations here with you!
